My Name is Eric, and I’m Ready to Steal Your Heart (and Your Lap)

Hi there! I’m Eric, a 2.5-year-old Saluki. If you know anything about my breed, you know we are elegant, a bit aloof at first, and total goofballs once we get comfortable. I have been in the rescue's care since October 2025 due to being returned as the young children in the home stressed me out; it was not their fault, myself and young children are not compatible. Teenagers would be fine in my new home. I went out on a trial recently, but through absolutely no fault of my own, it didn't work out. So, I am back and looking for my true forever family! I am super smart, I learn incredibly fast, and I am so ready to find my people. 🏠 My House Manners: Perfect House Habits: I am fully house-trained and have never had a single accident indoors. Good Night's Sleep: I am crate trained and sleep like a log all night without a peep. I often pop into my open crate during the day for a rest. Clever Boy: I know "Sit," "Lie," and "Paw" (especially if you have treats). ❤️ My Personality & Quirks: The Saluki Lean: I might take a second to say hello, but once we are friends, I’m a total cuddle bug. I love resting my head right in your hand and getting chin rubs. Lap Dog Aspirations: My absolute favorite thing is to back up into you and try to sit as high up on your chest as possible, before sliding down into your lap for a bum scratch. Fetch Expert: I love playing fetch and will actually bring the ball right back to your hand. I also love squeaky plush toys and am happy playing with them all by myself. Peaceful Sleeper: Unlike some of my sighthound cousins, I don’t have any sleep startle. You can move around me while I snooze without worrying. 🚶 Out and About on Walks: Lead Skills: I walk beautifully on a slip lead and have made massive improvements. City Boy Vibes: Funnily enough, I am much more relaxed in busy places like city parks. I can pass other dogs at a 10-metre distance with just a tiny bit of guidance. Frustrated Greeter: In my own neighborhood, I get a little more reactive. It’s not aggression; I just get frustrated because I really want to say hello! Sometimes minor things outside confuse me, but a patient person with a good routine will help me navigate the world easily. 🐕 Can I Live With Other Pets? Dog Friendly: I could potentially live with another dog! It will just depend on a successful meet-and-greet at the kennels to make sure our personalities match. Unfortunately, cats are not my thing. 📝 The Important Stuff: I am neutered, fully vaccinated, and microchipped.
