Beautiful friendly and loving boy seeking a suitable forever home.
Harlow has come into rescue due to his owners being pet sitters and they said the constant new people and dogs coming in and out was just too stressful for Harlow to cope with and so felt a new home where there is less constant changes would be best for this gentle giant. Harlow is great with other dogs and could live with another dog no problem, to be honest a home with another dog would be prefered as he is used to having company all the time so dont know how he will cope on his own. In his previous home he also lived with kids, and they said he was very good with the children. So could live in a home with dog savy kids who are used to large dogs. He also previously lived with a cat, so could live with a dog savy cat if given proper introductions. Harlow can be reactive on the lead (barks and pulls) as he wants to play with other dogs, so this will require patience, understanding, and continued training to help him overcome this behaviour. He is generally very strong on the lead, so would probably have to go back to the basics. In the countryside and quiet areas he walks pretty well once he has got going, as there is alot less stress and stimulation around him. He is just a big bouncy baby boy, who also has some anxiety at times. He can be a high-energy boy but settles well when he receives regular exercise. He loves playing with the other dogs and absolutely loves playing fetch, though he doesnt always bring it back. He is happy to relax in the garden and squeak his tennis balls or roll in the long grass. He is a really wonderful boy. Harlow would be best suited to a home with someone who is around most of the time initally to provide a stable and consistent settling-in period. He can become anxious in new surroundings until he feels safe and secure. He has been previously house trained and previously crate trained. A home in a more rural or quiet area would be best, with a fully secure garden to ensure his safety. Harlow is an amazing boy, who just needs a patient and understanding home who is willing to put in some training initally to help him gain confidence and mature into his best self. He is the best boy and a real cuddle bug. He can be a little shy with some people initally, but once you give him some tasty treats and attention he soon becomes your best friend. In the home he is pretty settled and in general is just a wonderful boy with a great temperment. He will just need ongoing support and training in regards to his lead training and reactivity.
