Elton is a lovely 5-year-old Beagle who is looking for a calm and understanding home. He is an affectionate, clever and playful boy who enjoys long sniffy walks, food puzzles, relaxing on the sofa and spending time with the people he trusts. A few years ago, Elton went missing for several days and since then he has become increasingly anxious around unfamiliar people and stressful situations. His family has worked hard with trainers and veterinary professionals, but they feel he would benefit from a quieter environment where he can continue to build his confidence. Once Elton knows you, he is a loving and loyal companion. However, he can be nervous around strangers and needs people who are willing to give him time and allow him to settle at his own pace. Elton is house trained, crate trained and can be left alone without issue. He currently lives with another dog and gets on well with other dogs. He has no separation anxiety, is not destructive and has no history of aggression towards other dogs. We are looking for a calm home with patient adopters who understand nervous dogs. A home with older, dog-savvy teenagers may be considered, but a busy household with young children would not be suitable. Elton is healthy and not on any medication. He has a small lump on his belly which has been checked by a vet and confirmed to be benign. This has been a heartbreaking decision for his family, who love him dearly and simply want to find the right home where he can feel safe, secure and happy. ❤️ A loyal, affectionate boy looking for someone willing to give him the time and understanding he deserves. 🐾
