Description

Reya is a special girl, seeking a special forever home.

Reya was originally born in rescue, when her mother Reta came in pregnant from the dog pound and gave birth to 10 beautiful pups. All her siblings have found forever homes, but when Reya was about 10 weeks old she started showing some signs of pain and illness. X rays were done which showed some defects in her spine, she has since then been to the specialist vets for MRI scan and tests where they have decided she had Discospondylitis. So was placed on a longterm course of antibiotics and pain medication. She has now finished all medications and does not require anymore medication. Whilst her Spine may never be 100% perfect, it doesnt hold her back one bit. She is no longer in pain and is a typical happy and bouncy lurcher. She loves to run and play with her friends just like any puppy does, she is growing into a beautiful big pup. Her only signs of the illness would be that she is more on the lean side, she could eat like a horse and still have the body of an athelete. But she loves food and will eat anything you offer her. She is currently eating dry food, wet food and also loves her natural treats, chicken, tinned fish etc.. She has always been a more learn girl, and this may continue into adult hood. She has gained some weight since being spayed, so hopefully as she matures more she will continue to fill out. She is great with other dogs of all sizes, she has been raised alongside our toy poodles and she loves them, but sometimes she does play with them without realising she is a large girl. She means no harm by it though, she is a great girl who just doesnt realise she isnt a tiny pup anymore. Whilst Reya is super friendly with people, we dont want her rehomed with young kids, as a child could easily lean on her back and potentially hurt her spine etc. Kids 8yrs and older, who have a sensible approach to dogs. She is the most loving and sweet girl, who always looks like she is smiling and loves coming over and giving us big kisses. A home with atleast one other dog would be preferred, as she has been raised within our busy home and rescue surrounded by doggy friends. We dont know what she is like with cats, she hasnt been around cats before in her life. We could do a cat assessment with our house cats, but cant give any guarantees. Reya walks well on the lead, travels well in the car and has been raised in a home. But in a new home she will need some house training, in our home she has been used to using puppy pads when we arent home, as she has been getting raised alongside our own two toy poodle pups, so puppy pads have been needed. Reya is a very special girl, who we love very dearly. She has been lovingly raised from the moment she was born, and was nursed during her early weeks of life and during her period of illness. So as you can imagine we are quite bonded to her. We just want her to find a forever home now who can treat her like the princess that she is. She is such a fun and comical girl who fills our days with so much love and laughter, so we would love to find a home with someone who will enjoy her company as much as we do. She has had a long journey and has been through alot in her young life but she is now well and ready to start the next chapter in her life. Whilst she is no longer on any medication for her spine, please do keep in mind that as she gets older she may end up with some pain or arthritis in the part of her spine that was affected, so pain killer may be needed when she is in her older years.
