Dawson is a 1–2 year old Shih Tzu who joined us a little while ago in very poor condition. When he arrived, his coat was severely matted, he was extremely underweight and sadly riddled with worms. On top of that, he picked up a nasty tummy bug and had to be admitted to the vets for a few days. It’s been a tough start for such a little lad.
Thankfully, with the right care and treatment, Dawson has turned a corner. He’s been shaved down, treated, building back up slowly and safely — and he has completely transformed into a new boy. He’s now feeling so much better and his lovely little personality is beginning to shine through.
Dawson is a timid, sweet-natured soul who can find the world a little overwhelming at times. He would really benefit from a calm, quieter home where he can continue to grow in confidence at his own pace. A patient family who will give him reassurance and gentle guidance will see him blossom.
He can live with sensible children aged 8 years plus, and is happy to share his home with other dogs and cats.
As a Shih Tzu, Dawson will require a regular grooming schedule to keep his coat comfortable and healthy. Ongoing coat care is an essential commitment for this breed.
He is settling beautifully into foster care, and his foster family have nothing but positive things to say about him. He’s a good little boy who just needed someone to give him a chance.
Now feeling well and ready for the next chapter, Dawson is searching for a forever home where he will be cherished, kept safe, and never have to struggle again.
