Duckie may have some disabilities, but she doesn’t let it hold her back at all. She will need to live alone with some adaptations to her tank.
Minimum required enclosure size: 3ft (90cm) tank with adequate dry basking space and a large easy to use access ramp. Duckie will need shallower water than most turtles to ensure she can dive for her food
Suitable for:
- children of any age with supervision
-new or experienced keepers
Musk turtles are a great introduction to aquatic reptile keeping. Staying small, yet packed with personality, you really could watch them all day. Very friendly little guys who are entertaining to watch and interact with.
Duckie was housed with much larger turtles as a baby, who unfortunately damaged her back feet and stunted her growth by hoarding food.
As a result, she is a weak swimmer and struggles to dive, instead spending most of her day at the top of the tank.
She will need to live alone to ensure she gets adequate food and isn’t bullied again. We can discuss her needs further with potential adopters.
